Every choice expresses the totality of your beliefs and determines which possibility takes form. When we observe with open attention what we feel, think, and do, room opens up to choose differently.
Foreword
This theory describes the dynamics of choosing. Its starting point is the existence of free will.1 The theory can be explored in your own experience.
This text offers a concise explanation. The practical application is set out in Freeing the Will.2
The Theory of Conscious Choosing
Definition of choosing
Choosing is the expression of a decision. In every choice the composition of your beliefs is expressed in full, even when they are unclear or in conflict with one another.3 Many choices are automatic responses that are not recognized as choices.4
Deliberate choosing
A choice is effective when feeling, thinking, and doing are in balance with one another.5 Feeling provides information about existing beliefs, thinking can interpret that information, and doing gives expression to the choice. Trust arises to the extent that these three areas support one another.
Awareness
When we observe with open attention what we feel, think, and do, insight arises into how they relate to one another, and with it into what we choose. Resistance is friction between feeling, thinking, and doing. It points to conflicting or limiting beliefs. When we acknowledge and accept these beliefs, room opens up for new possibilities.
Freedom of choice
Which possibilities we perceive is, in itself, already a choice. All possibilities exist in potential, but are not always equally probable.6 The totality of your beliefs influences that probability in the moment. Choosing, as the expression of that totality, determines which possibility takes form.

- The theory is based on personal findings and channelled material, including that of Elias, Abraham Hicks, and Bashar. Its practical application shares similarities with acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and Focusing, among others. The personal findings stem from the experience described in The Realisation of an Extraordinary Self-Image.↩︎
- Belief here means more than a conscious opinion: everything that counts as true, valuable, probable, or necessary and so helps shape your perception and your choices — even without being recognized as a belief.↩︎
- Automatic is not the same as unchosen: the run-up arises by itself, but what is expressed — or held back — remains a choice. Developed in The Deep End: The Swerve.↩︎

- Probability reflects momentum: when beliefs, attention, and choices repeatedly express the same direction, certain possibilities gain weight without the outcome being fixed. Every choice can change this pattern at any moment. See also The Philosophy of Infinity: spontaneous self-organization is this same interplay at the scale of the whole. Developed in The Deep End: Time.↩︎
